Helpful art tips

“ The purpose of our lives is to be happy.” — Dalai Lama.

Firstly, I'm gonna give you some tips on how to draw heads. In my opinion, the shape of the head would depend on the gender. But starting the heads are very similar for both genders.

First you would start with a simple circle or oval. The the shape of your choice does not have to be perfect, it just has to be round. Then after you draw your preferred shape via a circle or an oval,  you  can then draw a cross shape in the middle of your shape. The cross shape helps you map out your face easier.

After you draw the cross shape,  draw the jaw line ( you can use both tips for both genders). For a male you draw a square starting from the middle of the cross to the bottom of your cross.  For female  you flower petal like shape starting from the middle of the cross to the bottom of the cross. The flower petal shape does not have to be pointy. Draw your ears. Then finish drawing the rest of the head. (Remember that the neck is attached to the back of the head for side and back view, for front view, just draw two parallel lines under the chin).

Now, lets learn about the body. When you're drawing a female body,  you would  draw a horizontal line attached to the base of the neck if you drew it already.  Then you would draw a diagonal line on  both sides of the base of the neck, when you're done with that, you  could sketch out one small circle on both ends of the lines you sketched out.

From that, you would draw an horizontal (sideways) oval a little bit under the line that you sketched. Then you draw a square under the oval. After you've done that, you can draw a cross in the center of your oval, that marks which way the torso is facing.

Once you finished that, you can draw another circle. Remember this is for the female body, so if you want your character(s) to have a bigger waist,  the new circle your going to draw would have to be slightly bigger than the head. But if you want you character to have a smaller and slimmer waist, the circle would be smaller than the head. Again like how you did the torso, you're going to draw a cross in the center of your circle (again this shows which way the waist is facing).  <3

Now that we saw the female body, lets move on to the male body.

The male body is made out of these shapes; a rectangle; an upside-down trapezoid; circles;  and a regular right-side up trapezoid.  if you have already drew the neck, you would sketch out a rectangle  at the base or the bottom of the neck. Then draw a cross or a t shape in the middle of the rectangle.

Furthermore, after you drew the rectangle,  small, skinny trapezoid along the top side length. That should meet at the center of the neck. Following that, draw small circles at the two top corners of the rectangle.

Next under the rectangle, draw an upside-down trapezoid, the shorter side should be facing down  and the longer side should be along the bottom of the rectangle.  Then draw a small circle or oval under upside-down trapezoid, with a regular right-side up trapezoid going trough it.  Make sure the right-side up trapezoid is a little bit smaller than the upside down trapezoid.

This website was a school assignment which I took part in, along with my other classmates. The assignment was to make a website to present in class. The assignment was fun and engaging! It was really easy too, along with the assignment, we had small tests on Fridays.
Anyways,  this website is to help you with art and to share tips with you!  Whatever you need to know about sketching a body is on this website. But since I kind of draw in a  manga style, the tips might not be realistically accurate.
